The amazing Mr. Edwin Coppard of Real People Music has truly transformed my life. Throughout the past several weeks of working with him, he has honestly helped me become the artist I've always wanted to be.
In January of 2008, I was in Fiji for Tony Robbins' Life Mastery seminar. While I was there, I was shown a video of a man who used the human voice to completely turn this woman's life around. This 15 minute video impacted me beyond description. Watching this woman heal so completely brought tears to my eyes and moved me to the depth of my soul. At the end of the video, everyone in my group was singing and I heard my voice soar with a power and clarity I had never experienced before. I couldn't believe that was my own voice! At that moment I thought, 'I don't know who this guy is, but I have to work with him! '
When I got home from Fiji, I was telling someone about this incredible experience I had and she happened to know who Edwin was. She said, 'Oh my gosh Jen, you have to work with Edwin. I think he could really change your life. ' So, I looked up Edwin on the internet and contacted him through his website.
A few weeks later, he emailed me back, saying that he wanted to speak with me on the phone. After a few days of playing phone tag, we finally connected and he told me all about himself and his work. At the end of our conversation he said, 'Hey, I have this crazy idea…'. He then proceeded to tell me about his 6-day course in Tofino, 'Your Voice is the Messenger of Your Soul. ' Even though it was starting in just 2 days, I knew I had to find a way to be there. I knew that this was going to change my life forever.
Since I began working with Edwin and attending his seminars, my life has been changing and growing in incredible ways. I'm continued to write and record new songs. Now I know that my voice and my words are the vehicles through which my true self emerges.
I understand that, just like everything else in life, songwriting is a process. I love knowing that a song wants to peak its head out from under whatever is happening in my life at the time. I love feeling the gentle tug of a song on my sleeve saying, 'It's time to write now. ' I love being more open to the world around me and being constantly ready for its inspiration.
As I continue to grow, so does my voice and my music. After years of singing, writing and searching for 'the answer', I was introduced to Edwin and his work. I can now say that I am the singer-songwriter I always wanted to be. This is only the beginning of a truly unforgettable journey.
